Welcome to Kate's Substack

Welcome to my substack, writing about psychotherapy, supervision, growth, wildness, life, spirituality and ageing, and how they all come together.

I am currently writing a book about therapy and faith: two things I am really interested in, and that really matter to me. Nature, spirituality and relationality are all interwoven for me, and whilst my posts may seem to have diverse subjects they all have a core sense of connection: with ourselves, with each other, with the environment around us, with the world we live in and all that which is unseen, above, below and around us, which we do not understand, but occasionally get glimpses of.

There is a popular quote from Clarissa Pinkola Estes which speaks to me, as it does to many others:

“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”
― Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves

I share that yearning, a physical sense of love that as she says, is almost unbearable. I hope to use this substack to explore the many and varied connections that make our lives so magical, in a world that can seem so full of suffering, cruelty, pain and destruction. I believe there is room for hope, but I also believe there is a huge amount of work to do to ensure that future generations - in all countries, not just the rich ones - can have a world that they can live in
